Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 Overview
What more can be said about Attack On Titan? Even if you're only a casual anime fan, it's likely that you're well aware of and heavily invested in this show. It's a supernatural action series based on Hajime Isayama's work, known in Japanese as Shingeki no Kyojin, and this part of the season is titled Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 3, or Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3, or Shingeki no Kyojin Final Season Part 3.
Studio MAPPA, a renowned studio behind several highly popular anime properties like Jujutsu Kaisen and the upcoming Chainsaw Man, is animating this season. Yuiichirou Hayashi directs the show, with Jun Shishido serving as the chief director, the same duo who were in charge of Parts 1 and 2 of the final season, as well as other renowned anime like Kakegurui and Hajime no Ippo.
Freedom at what cost?-Shingeki no Kyojin The Final Season Kanketsu-hen Review
It was predictable, but nonetheless an incredible episode that surpassed the heights that this series has previously reached, depending on when you believe it peaked. It's difficult for anyone to deny that Attack on Titan Episode 88 is now at the pinnacle of what the series has accomplished. Despite the challenges presented by the studio and production coalition, who made some perplexing decisions for unclear reasons, this was a remarkable achievement. Before delving into those difficulties, let's focus on the episode itself.
For me, the most significant observation from Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 was that Eren possessed more of his humanity than what was initially noticeable in the previous season. While he was never a ruthless killer, there was still significant disagreement within the community and the show's universe about his extreme actions. Despite grappling with the Founder's influence, Eren firmly believed that taking such drastic measures was the only way to prevent the persecution and killing of Eldians.
Despite the entire episode centering around Mikasa, Armin, and their efforts to reach and communicate with Eren, we did not learn much about most of the characters. Mikasa had just five lines in the entire episode, three of which were directed towards Eren. Although Armin's role was more complex, and he had a more significant role to play, his moment of solace with Annie just before things got tough was touching. Annie remains a perplexing figure, but there may be promising developments on the horizon for her character. However, the standout performance of the episode was Hange, but we cannot say much about her without revealing spoilers.
The dominant themes of Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 were devastation, desperation, and the senselessness of existence, and the show portrayed them flawlessly. The tragic fate of the child whom Eren saved, only to recognize that he would have to kill him eventually, and his brutal demise in front of us, perfectly embodied the show's overarching message. No one, regardless of their innocence or guilt, responsibility or regret, would survive the impending Rumbling. It was inevitable, and there seemed to be no way to stop it, at least not yet.
