‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ - Everything you need to Know
Given that the first Avatar (2009) took several years to make, it was expected that a long period of time would pass before the release of the sequel. Now, 13 years later, we are about to see the first Avatar sequel, officially named Avatar: The Way of Water, come to the big screen (2022).

When it comes to science fiction sequels, James Cameron is a genius, whether it's with Aliens (1986) or Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). There's every potential that the Avatar sequel, which is already shaping out to be extremely extraordinary, will be better than the 2009 original.

Why Avatar 2 took so long for release ?
It's commonly known that the production of the first Avatar took 12 years (although only 4 from pre-production to release), so it should come as no surprise that Avatar: The Way of Water has taken around the same amount of time (adding to that delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The planet of Pandora is mostly computer created, and the next Avatar sequel will use motion capture technology that is considerably more advanced than that of the first movie. The movie will also be set underwater, which has proven to be a very difficult issue for the filmmakers.
Avatar: The Way of Water's release has been delayed in part due to the previous Avatar sequels. That's correct, the forthcoming movie won't be the end in the series; instead, Avatar 3 (2024), Avatar 4 (2026), and Avatar 5 (2028) will all be released every two years afterward.
But why is James Cameron holding off on releasing the Avatar prequels for so long? Avatar: The Way of Water was supposed to come out in 2014, but there have been significant delays due to the addition of three more sequels and the necessity to create new technologies for underwater motion capture.
These delays have given the filmmakers additional time to concentrate on the script, pre-production, and special effects, though. The epidemic caused a break in the production of Avatar: The Way of Water, which lasted more than three years overall.
Is Avatar 2 full movie underwater filmed?

Are there any changes in Avatar 2 Cast?

Sam Worthington (Jake Sully), Zoe Saldana (Neytiri), CCH Pounder (Mo'at), Giovanni Ribisi (Parker Selfridge), Joel David Moore (Dr. Norm Spellman), Dileep Rao (Dr. Max Patel), and Matt Gerald are all reprising their roles from the 2009 film (Corporal Lyle Wainfleet).
Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, who play Dr. Grace Augustine and Colonel Miles Quaritch in Avatar, respectively, are two further actors who will be making a comeback. Weaver will, however, have an unspecified part this time because her character in the previous movie gets eliminated.
While Lang already revealed that Quaritch will be making a return as the antagonist in all four Avatar sequels, despite having also been killed off in Avatar, Weaver is rumored to have learned how to free-dive and has also shot sequences underwater. The artist said
"I won't go into detail about how we're bringing him back, but remember, this is science fiction. Over the course of our brand-new three-film narrative, his character will develop in truly unexpected ways.
Additionally, it has been suggested that motion capture technology would be used to really bring his role to life. However, we'll just have to wait till the movie is out to find out how Quaritch will be coming back to trouble the Na'vi even more.
Jeremy Irwin (Young Neteyam), Britain Dalton (Lo'ak), Chloe Coleman (Young Lo'ak), Trinity Bliss (Tuktirey), Bailey Bass (Tsireya), Filip Geljo (Aonung), Duane Evans Jr. (Rotxo), and Kate Winslet are all newcomers to the Na'vi (Ronal).
Jack Champion plays Javier "Spider" Socorro, Edie Falco as General Ardmore, Michelle Yeoh plays Dr. Karina Mogue, Brendan Cowell plays Captain Mick Scoresby, Jemaine Clement plays Dr. Ian Garvin, Oona Chaplin plays Varang, and Vin Diesel and CJ Jones play unspecified characters.
