Although there hasn't been an official announcement about a second season of the anime, it's worth noting that a continuation of the franchise is in the works. In 2023, a special called Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage will be released. Not much is known about the featurette, but its upcoming release has left fans speculating that a second season of the show may follow soon after.
When Is Ranking of Kings: Season 2 Coming Out?
There is currently no confirmation about the production of Ranking of Kings: Season 2. However, if we were to speculate about its potential release date, it could possibly be in the fall of 2025. It's also possible that the anime may not return for an even longer duration, as the first season has already covered 12 out of the total 14 volumes of the manga.
It seems that fans who are hoping for a second season of Ranking of Kings might be disappointed with the wait, as it will be some time before new source material is released. This suggests that it may be a while before the production of Ranking of Kings: Season 2 can begin, leaving fans with a longer wait than they might have hoped for.
What Is Ranking of Kings: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)
Ranking of Kings anime has covered the manga's story up to volume 12, where Bojji and Kage played a key role in saving the Bosse Kingdom. Currently, the manga is on its 14th volume, which is only slightly ahead of where the first season of the anime ended. Given this, it's difficult to predict what Ranking of Kings: Season 2 will entail, as there isn't much information available at the moment.
Based on the current storyline in the manga, it appears that Bojji and Kage have embarked on an even greater journey. Bojji is determined to become a king, and in order to achieve this goal, he sets out on a journey to visit all the other kingdoms in order to gain strength and experience.
Which Studio Is Making Ranking of Kings: Season 2?
Although Studio Wit has been facing production problems since Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga switched to being developed by MAPPA, there are still chances that Wit will return as the lead studio for Ranking of Kings: Season 2. This is especially hopeful given that the studio has confirmed its involvement in the Treasure Chest of Courage special, and it's likely that they will continue to be involved in the franchise after its release.
Where Will Ranking of Kings: Season 2 Be Aired?
Funimation obtained the license to air Ranking of Kings: Season 1 originally. Therefore, it's likely that Funimation will also obtain the license for Season 2 due to their previous involvement in the franchise. However, Crunchyroll recently acquired Funimation, so it's also possible that the second season may be available on both platforms. Fans can hope that Ranking of Kings: Season 2 will eventually be added to Crunchyroll's premium collection as well.
