Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War's Plot
Set two years after the defeat of Sosuke Aizen, Bleach's "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc thrusts the complacent Soul Reapers into chaos as the vengeful Quincy tribe launches a devastating assault on both Hueco Mundo and the Soul Society, led by their king Yhwach, seeking revenge for their past defeat. With Captain Yamamoto's death and the theft of bankai from several captains, protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki and his fellow Soul Reapers must undergo rigorous training to prepare for a second confrontation with the elite Sternritter. Ichigo, coming to terms with his Quincy lineage and bidding farewell to the original Zangetsu, embraces his true power derived from his inner Hollow, as he joins forces with Rukia, Renji, and others to save the universe from Yhwach's wrath, while Uryu Ishida, a Quincy ally, may have his own hidden agenda.
Bleach Season 2's More news
According to Anime News Network, the new season of Bleach's Thousand-Year Blood War arc will be helmed by director Tomohisa Taguchi, who also directed the first season of the "TYBW" arc, and renowned composer Shiro Sagisu, known for his work on previous Bleach anime and Neon Genesis Evangelion, will handle the score for this season. The opening theme song, titled "Stars," will be performed by the musical group w.o.d.
The majority of the original voice cast from the Bleach anime is expected to reprise their roles, with a few new voice actors joining to portray fresh villainous characters in the upcoming season. Yuki Aoi, recognized for her roles as Tanya Degurechaff in Saga of Tanya the Evil and Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia, will voice the minor antagonist Liltotto Lamperd, while Nao Toyama, known for her performances as Ruka Sarashina in Rent-a-Girlfriend and Suma the kunoichi in Demon Slayer, will lend her voice to the quirky yet sinister Giselle Gewelle, a Quincy set to wreak havoc in the impending war for the Soul Society's destiny.
Bleach Season 2's Trailer & Release Date
The latest trailer for Bleach Season 2, which premiered on May 28th, offers a glimpse into the epic scale of the upcoming events. The trailer showcases numerous familiar and new characters, setting the stage for an even larger clash between the Soul Reapers and the Quincy. Notable Soul Reapers such as Captain Shinji Hirako, who had limited involvement in the first season of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, make their presence felt. Despite their losses, the surviving captains fight valiantly against the formidable Sternritter, including explosive-powered Bambietta Basterbine and the formidable Mask de Masculine.
The trailer also strongly suggests that Uryu Ishida, torn between loyalties, has fully defected to the Quincy empire known as Wandenreich, receiving the full support of King Yhwach. Uryu is seen standing alongside Jugram Haschwalth, proudly standing by his king as the war reignites against the Soul Society. Fans can expect to witness the full extent of Uryu's apparent betrayal when the second season premieres on July 8th, 2023. Similar to the first season, the new episodes will be available on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.
