Shuri is the new Black Panther
The film begins by introducing the audience to Namor, a powerful Marvel character and the king of an underwater kingdom rich in vibranium, similar to Wakanda. He initially comes across as a potential ally to the Wakandans, but later reveals his true intention of seeking revenge against the surface world for forcing his people underwater and now threatening them with their quest for vibranium. He mentions being a "mutant".
Namor is in conflict with Shuri who desires a non-violent solution to prevent Riri Williams, the inventor of a vibranium-detecting machine, from being killed by Namor. After Namor invades Wakanda and kills Queen Ramonda, who was murdered by Nakia to save Shuri, Shuri vows to take revenge on him.
Shuri, with the help of a gift from Namor, recreates the heart-shaped herb that grants the powers of the Black Panther. Upon consuming the herb, she encounters Erik Killmonger on the ancestral plane. Driven by her hatred for Namor and motivated by her desire for vengeance for her mother's death, she intends to defeat Namor once and for all.
What happens to Namor and the future of Wakanda ?
With Shuri now holding the powers of the Black Panther, she sets a trap for Namor. As the Wakandans engage in a battle with Namor's army, Shuri manages to lure Namor to a deserted island for her revenge. The fight is intense and violent, with Shuri cutting off one of Namor's winged feet, and Namor stabbing Shuri in the stomach.
After recuperating, Shuri detonates a bomb near Namor, rendering him powerless and bringing him to his knees. However, when it is time to deal the final blow, she pauses and is reminded by her mother to choose the right path and not kill. Instead, she shows Namor mercy and promises that Wakanda will come to the aid of his people if they ever need it.
End credit scene Explained
Following the cast credits, with Rihanna's sorrowful song "Lift Me Up" playing in the background, the movie returns to the beach in Haiti.
During a lengthy mid-credits scene, more information about T'Challa's legacy is revealed. Nakia takes a young boy to the beach and introduces him as her son with T'Challa. She left Wakanda partially to raise him away from the responsibilities of being king. Shuri discovers that Nakia's son, who is also named T'Challa, was raised in Wakandan traditions.
Despite the loss of her brother and mother, Shuri has a bright future ahead of her as the current Black Panther, and her nephew, who is poised to continue the heroic legacy of her family, as a potential successor.
